I’m not sure why this hasn’t been discussed more, but in my opinion, air travel needs a major, major revamp. If they want to bring business back and increase passenger safety, it’s time to rethink everything.
Here’s a list of things I’d change:
- Modular rooms and seating should be put in such that passengers can sit in groups and/or spaced as needed.
- Family tickets that can allow for a family to travel in a single group rather than having to deal with multiple bookings. This should be electronic.
- Easy change and travel rules should be permanent.
- Allow customers to self carry luggage except those without wheels and place bags in modular spaced areas.
- Put up barriers / rooms to allow for families to travel in a group.
- COVID19/Health checks should be standard procedure in the boarding process — certain screening should be put into place.
- Create isolation areas on every airplane.
Ventilation needs to be changed and airlines need to realize travel will never be the same until confidence is restored. These are just quick ideas, but I’ll post again as I think of more.
